EXPERIENTIAL INTERVENTIONS FOR EXTERNALIZING BEHAVIOR: A MULTILEVEL META-ANALYSIS OF ADOLESCENTS AND ADULTS.
— STAFF
Experiential treatments for persistent externalizing behavior in offender and adolescent populations show a medium average benefit, but the pooled evidence attributes roughly twice the effect to programmes that build in cognitive-behavioral components and deliver them with high fidelity, which bears on how forensic treatment programmes are designed and on how their expected benefit is described. It does not alter any clinician obligation and the estimates rest on a modest pooled sample, so it refines rather than resets the evidence base on offender rehabilitation.
