It supplies, for the first time in pooled form, the magnitude of premature mortality following adolescent justice contact — figures a clinician or expert can cite when arguing for transitional care, suicide and overdose prevention, or post-release follow-up in juvenile and young-adult justice populations. It does not alter any professional obligation or undermine an assertion evaluators currently make, and the very high heterogeneity means the pooled estimates should be quoted as indicative rather than precise.
