Every Medicare-participating psychiatric hospital and excluded psychiatric unit will have to administer and report a standardized patient assessment instrument, which changes admission and documentation workflow for the clinicians who complete it, not merely the facility's billing. The concurrent removal of two IPFQR measures alters what inpatient psychiatric quality is measured on nationally, which matters to anyone who relies on those measures as a benchmark in litigation, accreditation or systems work.
